Highlights from November Meeting

 The 148th Meeting November 21,2020

Today’s meeting was a special Joint Meeting with ASHIYA Toastmasters Club. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn many new things from many new friends. 

Toastmaster of the Day: K.K., Theme for this meeting: Autumn Leaves

Word of the day: Serendipity. The meeting created a wonderful serendipity!

The meeting started with a self-introduction rally as an icebreaker. It was fun to know everyone’s “favorite things or activities in Autumn” Thank you M.K., we enjoyed interacting with ASHIYA Toastmaster Club members on Zoom!

There were 8 prepared speeches.

1st Speaker TM Y.C. “Comments from an Immigrant “

I love the expression, digital immigrant. Thank you for pointing out the merits and demerits of both the analog and digital world.  You used the visual aids really effectively. I don’t think you are a digital immigrant!

2nd Speaker TM T.I. “What is your personal song?”

She introduced three memorable pieces of music which induce happy emotions to herself.  It is also interesting to know that personal songs stimulate dementia people to socialize. It was a resourceful story. 

3rd Speaker TM R.H. “ Teacher Lyn . . . “

She shared the memory of when she first joined Toastmaster's club in 2001. I am surprised to hear the evaluator of her first speech was TM K.K., today’s toastmaster of the day! What a long and beautiful relationship they have built. It was interesting to know the serendipities that led her to become a teacher and a toastmaster.

4th Speaker TM M.W.  “Laugh lines “

The episode with her grandma convinced us that the smile has a power to make people happy. I will try to keep smiling to have lovely laugh line like your grandma. Your story vividly described what a wonderful family and happy life your grandma had. 

5th Speaker TM M.A. “Balanced Choice “

She presented a proposal regarding plastic waste. Recently she keeps creating and delivering the speeches at almost every meeting. I admire her energy. Thank you for the resourceful speech. 

6th Speaker TM M.Y. “Pre-toast Speech for after Joint Meeting Party “

The beautiful scarf really suited her and worked well to let us imagine the party scene. She introduced the distinctive points of both ASHIYA and SENRI club. It helped us understand both club's features and similarity more. 

7th Speaker TM T.F. “Sumo Wrestling “

He always does detailed research on his speech topic. After listing to his speech, we will be able to enjoy the Sumo tournament even more.

8th Speaker TM Y.K. “Inaugural Address“

This was a special funny project. The objective of the speech was to handle a difficult audience. During his formal speech, some people disrupted it by cutting in, chatting with others, or not paying attention because of shyness. We enjoyed watching and listening to how he managed a disruptive audience.  It was amazing to see how creative we can be on Zoom! 

We learned a lot about improving speaking skills from 8 evaluators and the skillful General Evaluator, C.M. 

Thank you ASHIYA members, it was a valuable experience to have the joint meeting with you.

第124回例会 2018年10月20日 Area 65 Area 65 All Star Joint Meeting

普段は千里TMCだけで開催しているミーティングですが、10月のミーティングは「Area 65 All Star Joint Meeting」と称して西宮、おおさか浪漫の日本語クラブ、伊丹、千里の英語クラブの4つのクラブから成るArea65での合同ミーティング。
たくさんの方にご参加いただきました。

 

日本語ミーティング、英語ミーティングが前半と後半に分けて開催されました。

11月に名古屋で開催されるArea 65の所属するDivision Fのオールスターミーティングでユーモアスピーチコンテストが開催されるのにあわせ、各クラブから代表者がユーモアスピーチを披露し、投票形式で競います。

この日は10月後半ということもあり、今日はハロウィンミーティング。それぞれ、仮装をしたり、ハロウィンをイメージさせるワンポイントを身につけて参加です。正直、一目では誰だかわからない人もちらほら。。。
そして今回の例会は、それぞれのクラブのゲストもたくさんいらしてくださいました。

最初のセッションは、ASさんによるIcebreaking Session.
自分のイニシャルから始まる、自分の形容詞を選びます。輪になって自己紹介。次の人は、前の人の分も紹介。最後の人は大変です。
初めて会う人もたくさん、でしたが、こうしてお互いを覚えることができました。

さて、ここからが例会本番の始まり。
日本語の例会と英語の例会の2セッションが実施されます。

日本語の例会は西宮TMCのYUさん、英語の例会はEIさんがTMODを務められました。

日本語も英語も、仮装しながらユーモアスピーチなので、さらにユーモラス。
常に一同大爆笑でした。

ここで勝ち抜いた日本語、英語のそれぞれのArea 65の代表は、Division Fコンテストに進みます。

Table Topicsも日本語と英語でそれぞれ。
大変盛況な例会でした。

第102回例会 Speak-UP Toastmasters Clubとの合同例会ーTable Topics編

合同例会のTable Topics Speech Sessionはたいへん面白かったので、トピックを掲載させていただきます。
皆さん、ご覧になって、自分ならどうこたえるか2分間のimpromptu speechを試してみてください。

（１） 最初のTable Topicsを担当するTT Masterは、千里のSKさんです。

お題(Topics)は、今年の世相を表した2つの絵が示されました。この2つの互いに非なるものから一方を選択し、それについての考えを述べるものです。

スピーカーの皆さま、いかがでしたか。楽しまれましたでしょうか。オーディエンスは大いに盛り上がり、楽しんでいた模様です。TTS masterのSKさん、皆さんが楽しめるようたくさんのピクチャーを作成していただきありがとうございました。

（２） 引き続き次のTable Topics Speechですが、今度は[Debate Table Topics]です。
サンタさんの衣装で登場したTable Topics MasterはSpeak-UpのMＳさん、Topicsがこの日のプレゼントとは….！
ひとつの設問（proposition）についてAffirmative かNegative かどちらかの立場をとり意見を述べるものでした。
さあ、皆さんなら、どう考えられますか？

Topics:
1. Euthanasia should be legalized
2. Women are more patient than men.
3. Municipality or a political unit, such as a city, town, or village, should plan Konkatsu parties or a Japanese style singles party for marriage.
4. Money is more important than love.
5. Human cloning should be allowed.
6. Dating technique should be taught in schools.

第102回例会 2016年12月17日 Joint meeting with Speak-Up Toastmasters Club

Two presidents,  TM A.S. and TM Y opened the meeting.  Speak-up TMC has experienced members with DTM,  on the other hand Senri TMC is younger club with fresh and high spirits.  Those clubs had the joint meeting; it was quite meaningful and fruitful for each club. 

We had a lot of guests from other clubs and　Area director TM M.S. 

We had induction ceremony of Mr. S.A and Ms.S.B.  TM S.A and TM S.B., welcome to Senri TMC!

In prepared speech session all speakers did a very good job.  Especially TM M.K. did excellent ice break speech. In fact, she is very experience speaker, but she had been absent from TM activities for a long time.  TM International deleted her history of speeches. 

Rakugo, the highlight of the meeting, was successful.  It consisted from a lot of short stories and the main one.  I was attracted to the main story.  His gestures were marvelous, especially one in woma’s part.  However short stories were a little bit too much.  His workshop was good.  We could learn a lot from it. 




In evaluation session all evaluators did a very good job.

In table topics session there were two styles, regular one and debate one.  Table topics mater in debate style, TM M.S. wore Santa Claus clothes.  It made the atmosphere cheerful. 

The meeting had many sessions.  It was difficult to control times. 
As a whole the meeting was very successful.  Thank you for two presidents and VPEs!
