HIGHLIGHTS from 167th Regular Meeting on 18th Jun, 2022

A Glimpse of “The Wonderful” - 167th Regular Meeting of Senri Toastmasters Club !!!

The meeting was hybrid in nature. Both online and actual venue members and guests showed their enthusiasm, energy, and collaborated participation throughout the whole meeting. The harmonious teamwork of everyone orchestrated a profitable meeting environment.

It was the last term of office for President M.K.  But she did perform her duty exemplary as she welcomed members and guests and started the ball rolling for a smooth and fruitful meeting. The club also welcomed our newly inducted member K.N, K.N. who did her initial role as the AH Counter of the Day.

The Grammarian, T.N. introduced “unsolicited” a very useful and apt word to describe some of what we do in the club proceedings. We engaged ourselves in “unsolicited” feedback and exchanges not only to grow communicatively as individuals but to function as a club.

The first session on the agenda was “My Senri Experience” by Mune san. Thanks for sharing your experiences which gave us a more concrete idea of how Senri has helped you as a communicator and has harnessed your leadership skills. In addition, it was nice to know that one of the social networks, “MEET UP” paved the way for you to know about Senri.

The second session was the “Prepared Speech Session.” The speeches’ themes were diversified, interesting, informative, quite mind-boggling but with some injection of humor as stamped by the speaker’s style of delivery. Aya’s speech title was “High/Low Context Culture”, a vivid presentation of how culture works and affects perception. Kamayan’s “Touch Point Story” pictured a real life and role model in search of the “right” place and positivity of leadership. And the last speaker, Tenten talked about “his way of his unsolicited” club officer training that proved to be meritorious.

The third session was the Evaluation Session. The three Evaluators, namely Fumi, Hong, and Kiyo did give their “unsolicited” constructive feedback to the Prepared Speakers. The benefits gained from their evaluations were not confined to the speakers concerned but to everyone. An added feature for today’s agenda was the “Evaluator’s Evaluation” done by M.K. Indeed, a special feature of toastmastering lies in learning and getting empowerment from supportive peers.

The fourth session was Impromptu Speech session(Table Topics). The facilitator (Topics Master), Eri did prepare so well for her role. Before the actual meeting, she sent “Presentation Tips for Tour Guide.”  It gave the audience an idea on how to expound on the 9 Japanese related topics which were termed “Killer Contents” and grouped as to FOOD, PLACE, and FESTIVAL.  Such topics ranged from “Sushi” as talked by Mika, “Jogging on New Year” by N.T., and “Osaka” by K.N. The topics were very interesting and appealing as each speaker shared freely their experiences.

As a whole, the club meeting was a success! It gave a rewarding and fulfilling experience for members and guests.
